Each year, Earth Day invites us to reflect on the environmental impact of our daily choices and the ways we can build a healthier planet. In the spirit of this day, let’s explore the significant role that lighting plays in our environmental footprint.
In a growing number of communities across the country, dark-sky ordinances are being mandated in order to control light pollution. These ordinances require property owners to outfit their buildings with dark-sky lighting fixtures, such as shields. LEDs and reflectors, as well as specific bulb types and cut-off angles.
Three-dimensional (3D) Printing is based on the premise of adding material to build a product one layer at a time. This process is known as additive manufacturing. 3D printing can utilize a variety of materials such as plastics, metals, polymers, and more. Raw material paired with digital software and a design file allows 3D products to be created in little time.
Some common issues arise with traditional and fluorescent bulbs regarding cold-weather performance. LEDs are overall designed to be more durable, long-lasting and efficient than other bulbs, and are generally a better choice for indoor and outdoor applications.
