Returns, Exchanges, and Shipping

At Bay Lighting, we always strive to supply the right lighting to customers… but don’t worry, if you’re not satisfied with your purchase, received an incorrect item, or the product has been damaged during shipment, simply return it and we’ll make sure you get exactly what you need. For our full policy on returns and exchanges, read below.

Return and Restocking Policy

Bay Lighting stands behind its products and will issue a refund, replacement, or credit if you are not satisfied with your purchase and notify us within 14 days of product delivery. A restocking charge of 30% will apply to all items returned where Bay Lighting has made no error in merchandizing or shipping. Refunds will be made by original method of payment. All returns must arrive in the original packaging and all freight charges for the return of goods are to be paid by the customer.

There are exceptions to our return policy including, but not limited to, linear fluorescent bulbs 49″ or longer in length, specialty ordered products, orders outside the continental U.S., and shipments delivered via common carrier. Call 301-858-9494 to obtain a Returned Material Authorization before returning any product. Bay Lighting may at any time limit the number of delivery attempts based on unfavorable delivery history resulting from, but not limited to, damage, loss, or theft.

Shipping

Order Processing
Most orders process and ship within 2 business days. Orders placed after 1 p.m. Eastern Time may not process until the following business day; please keep this in mind if you are placing an order around a holiday or weekend.

While we try to process and ship orders as quickly as possible, some orders require more time. Please allow up to one week (5 business days) for your order to ship. If an order would take longer than that to process, we will notify you of the expected processing time and estimated ship date. If a backorder is causing the delay, we will request your permission to substitute the offending product with a comparable one so we can ship your order sooner, if possible.

Shipping Time
Most orders are shipped via Ground service and will arrive within 1 to 5 days. Orders shipped from our Crofton warehouse to local customers can arrive same or next-day via our local delivery service. Bay Lighting is not responsible for shipping delays incurred by hazardous weather, incomplete address information, or orders delayed because a receiver is not present to accept it.

Service Area
We ship to contiguous US and Canada addresses. An additional fee may be assessed to orders shipped to Alaska or Hawaii.

Orders shipped to Canada require a customs fee to be paid by the receiver. Fees charged by third parties, such as duties or customs, cannot be negotiated by Bay Lighting, and are solely the receiver’s responsibility.

Incorrect and Damaged Shipments

Bay Lighting will, at our discretion, replace or issue a refund for any damaged or incorrect items as well as any applicable shipping costs if we made an error shipping your order or it was damaged in shipment. Please note any obvious damage, shortage, or incorrectly shipped item while applying your signature at the time of delivery and make all claims for replacement or credit within 14 days of delivery.

To return any incorrect or damaged item, please call 301-858-9494 to obtain a Returned Material Authorization. For damaged orders, keep the original box and all packaging materials for possible inspection by the carrier and/or return to Bay Lighting. Bay Lighting may at any time limit the number of delivery attempts based on unfavorable delivery history resulting from, but not limited to, damage, loss, or theft.

If you have any questions about returns, exchanges, or shipping, please contact our main office at 301-858-9494.

In April, the Department of Energy finalized two rules requiring manufactures to sell energy-efficient lightbulbs. This means older, inefficient lightbulbs that don’t meet the new standards can no longer be manufactured and sold. The primary purposes for these rules are to drive down electricity use, save consumers money, and decrease greenhouse gas emissions.

It’s estimated that schools spend billions of dollars annually on energy, and it’s often the second-highest operating expenditure (following personnel costs). Each year, these expenses continue to increase while budgets often decrease, leading educators to look for ways to save money throughout the year. One way is by making some lighting updates that are more energy efficient, therefore saving money on energy bills. LED uses up to 75% less energy than conventional lighting systems, which keeps dollars in your budget for other important things.
