Why Recycle Fluorescent Tubes and Bulbs?

Fluorescent light tubes and bulbs contain hazardous materials, such as mercury and phosphor powders, which can be harmful to both human health and the environment if not disposed of correctly. Recycling fluorescent tube lights and bulbs is a responsible way to:

  • Protect the Environment: Recycling prevents the release of mercury and other toxic materials into the soil and water, reducing environmental contamination.
  • Ensure Compliance: Proper disposal of fluorescent lighting ensures compliance with local and federal regulations, avoiding potential fines and penalties.
  • Conserve Resources: Recycling fluorescent tubes allows for the recovery of valuable materials, conserving natural resources and reducing the need for manufacturing new lamps.

Recycling Program Benefits

Bay Lighting’s recycling program offers numerous benefits:

  • Simple Cost Structure: Our fluorescent tube recycling cost is straightforward at $2.29 per pound, making it easy to calculate the expense.
  • Maximized Storage Space: Frequent pick-ups of used fluorescent tubes help maximize your storage space, keeping your facility organized.
  • Time and Resource Savings: Combine fluorescent tube delivery with recycling pickup to save time and resources.
  • Certificate of Recycling Compliance: Customers will receive a certificate of recycling compliance, ensuring that your fluorescent tube disposal meets all regulatory requirements.

Bay Lighting’s Fluorescent Tube Recycling Services

At Bay Lighting, we love providing a manageable, no-hassle recycling process for our customers. Following light bulb recycling laws doesn’t have to be intimidating. Our process consists of the following:

  1. Designate an Area: Designate an area at your facility for light bulb recycling.
  2. Collect Lamps Safely: Collect fluorescent tubes and package together in a cardboard box. Be sure to avoid breakage. We recommend using the original box that your lamps arrived in or the box that hold your new lamps. Because your lamps are intact and not broken, your box can be labeled as universal waste.
  3. Schedule a Pick-Up: When you’re ready for a pick-up, seal your recycling box and schedule a pick-up. Ensure your box isn’t too heavy and can be picked up by the driver.
  4. Cost Savings: Avoid pick-up fees by pairing your fluorescent tube recycling with a new bulb order. Leave the rest to us!

This is an easy, budget-friendly time to consider renovations since there aren’t currently tenants in the unit, and it can make the apartment more appealing to future tenants.
